I love junk.
Old things have a story, a shape.
Sometimes things tell their own tale, and
sometimes I can help them tell a new one.
I
am officially "can crazy".
The tin can is so common, so overlooked.
You see them everywhere. A humble cast off, a resource. I fish them
from recycling bins, friends and strangers collect them for me, and
inspired restaurants save special pieces especially for my art.
I
am excited to be creating an example of enlightened re-use. This simple
item transformed our society and now I transform it with my torch.
Each piece is an original, cut free hand. I choose patterns from nature
and tapestry. With my flame I create these shapes, cutting ornate forms
into the can.
The result is reincarnated, illuminated beauty.
And perhaps, a conversation about recycling...
